Making and Keeping Connections
From PWAC's President, Christine Peets
One of the best benefits of belonging to PWAC is the strength of the connections we make with each other and how we keep those connections strong by keeping in touch, both online and in person. That online strength shows up on the L, our discussion board (sometimes called our water cooler), when we ask each other for help, and it's always provided.
Frequent requests are from members looking for sources for interviews, and it was when one of these came in recently that I was able to answer quite quickly with the names of two people who'd helped me with my career. I hadn't really been in touch with either of these women for several months and that query gave me the opportunity to get back in touch with them, and connect them to a PWACer. I love how that works!
Summer can be a time when we connect with family and friends, either at home or when we're travelling. It can also be a time to recharge from a busy work year, or at least slow down a bit. However you are spending your summer, I hope you take some time to make and keep those strong connections with PWAC friends, whether you do it online, or have the chance to get together at one of the social events planned in various chapters. That's what keeps PWAC the strong, vibrant organization it is, and how we can show new member that when they reach out for support, it will always be there for them.
I wish you all a wonderful summer!
