    Unleash Your

    Inner Writer

Professional writer and writing instructor Christine Peets offers five sessions aimed to bring out your best writing.

    The Sharing Pen
    Saturday, October 29, 2016, 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
Writing can be a solitary pursuit, but it is also something wonderful to be shared. Discover a new passion or perhaps ignite an old one. Explore your imagination. Follow your nose for a good story. Begin to unleash your inner writer. We will discuss all aspects of writing, including blogging.
A professional writer and blogger will join this session.

    The Healing Pen
    Saturday, January 28, 2017, 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
Writing can bring some light into a dark winter or dark situation. When life situations are, or have been, upsetting or deeply traumatic, writing can put these events into perspective. You can create a healthier future from an unhealthy past. We will discuss memoir writing and journalling. A social worker will be invited to this session.

    The Structured Pen
    Saturday, February 25, 2017, 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
Whether you are writing a short story or a novel, fiction or nonfiction, you need a good foundation of settings, characters, and plot. How do you begin? Where do you go from there? How do you wrap things up? How do you apply elements of fiction to nonfiction writing? We will look at expanding stories into novellas or novels, and at creating the nonfiction book.  Another professional writer will be joining this session.

    The Editing Pen
    Saturday,March 25, 2017, 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
A good editor will make a good writer better. While self-editing is important, we are sometimes  too close to a story to find its flaws. We need a fresh set of eyes on it. In this workshop we will discuss what editors look for, building a good editor-writer relationship, and the differences between critique and criticism. A professional editor will be joining this session.

    The Published Pen
    Saturday, April 29, 2017, 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
Becoming a published writer is challenging but has many rewards. This will help you get started. We will discuss finding markets, writing query letters, and various ways of getting published, including self-publishing. Published authors will be joining this session.
